Why I Became a Financial Advisor

Why I Became a Financial Advisor

| October 07, 2016

After studying Economics and Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison I launched my career as a life insurance agent representing Northwestern Mutual Life in their downtown Chicago agency, the O. Alfred Granum Agency. Months prior, I couldn’t figure out why I’d want to get into the life insurance business and luckily decided to take a recruiter’s suggestion to visit Mr. Granum. I remember walking out of the revolving doors onto LaSalle Street impressed with their professional approach to helping people make smart decisions about their life insurance program…and if they’d offer me a position, I’d take it!

I received excellent training my first three years in the business and made a quality of life decision to move back to central WI. Building my practice with business owners, C-level executives and other professional upwardly mobile individuals and their advisors helped me uncover a revelation: Most of my clients did a better job doing whatever they did between 8am and 5pm than they did getting their arms around their overall game plan. Managing the multiple relationships for their investment, insurance, estate and tax planning, employee benefits, savings and strategic planning is not their strong suit. So I created a planning process to get on the same side of the table as my client to understand their most important hopes, dreams, goals and objectives. This unique process allows me to deliver carefully crafted advice and position them to enjoy a more constructive and rewarding life focused on the things, events and people that bring them happiness. I believe this is important work and I have the skill set, relationships and passion to carry it out!

Why Clients Choose to Work With Me

For over thirty years people have chosen to work with me because of my integrity and commitment to create and sustain relationships based on trust. I ask good questions, I listen and show a genuine interest to protect their lifestyle and preserve and grow their assets for themselves and their loved ones. The real benefit of our work together is their increased clarity, confidence, and peace of mind knowing they will make smart decisions with their money and honor the commitments they’ve made to those they care about.
